The R.A. applied the early pressure and were rewarded when Freddie Huscroft's deflected shot wrong footed the Wolviston keeper. Wolviston were gifted a goal when a defensive mix-up allowed an opposition striker to tap into an empty net from 6 yards. The R.A.'s Wayne Hall scored the goal of the game with a 20 yard left foot volley to restore RA's lead. Several chances were missed before another misplaced pass allowed Wolviston to reduce the arrears before the break.
In the second half the R.A. were made aware of how tough the progress they had made is going to be. Wolviston equalised when the R.A. failed to stop a standard cross. Although the game was evenly contested the R.A.s position changed when keeper Ben Wade had to leave the field with a broken foot, following a horrendous tackle. A few of the R.A. players were affected by this and their heads to drop. Wolviston took full advantage eventually winning 6-3.
