A YEAR'S worth of life-changing treatment for a young cerebral palsy sufferer has been paid for, thanks to the efforts of a local business.

A charity auction held at the launch event of property company Lander Be, in Yarm, earlier this year, raised more than £4,000 to help Oscar Worton, from Kirklevington.

In addition, the company donated money to bring the total amount raised to £6,200, the equivalent of two courses of treatment for three-year-old Oscar.

On Saturday, Julie Worton, Oscar's mother, was presented with the money.

It will pay for the twice-yearly treatments at the Bobath centre, in London which could eventually see Oscar walk unaided.

The auction had a variety of lots, including a holiday to Marbella. which fetched £850 and a luxury trip to New York. which went for £2,400.

Other lots included signed Middlesbrough football shirts and balls and the use of a Mercedes sports car for a weekend.

A cardigan worn by Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw was also auctioned.

Mrs Worton said: "It's absolutely fantastic - we couldn't believe people's generosity.

"For a business to become that involved, it's really appreciated.

"We now know that when we get the phone call to say there's places available, we've got the funds raised."
