A MURAL of views of the River Wear produced by students has been unveiled for Durham's Heritage Open Days this weekend.
The mural at Old Durham Gardens, where the Old Durham Beck meets the River Wear, near Pelaw Woods, Gilesgate, was produced by 32 young people from New College Durham.
Some have learning difficulties and are on the Living in the Community course, others are on the BTec art and design course.
Necklace Park manager Claire Lancaster said: "It has been a real pleasure to see this piece of art being created over the past year.
"Old Durham Gardens is a fantastic hidden gem in Durham. It's just a short walk from the city centre and makes a great springboard from which to explore further green spaces in Durham.
"We hope projects like the title mural will draw attention to this great place and encourage people to get out and about enjoying the great walks Durham has on offer."
College principal John Widdowson said: "The college and students have benefited from the challenge, being involved in the planning, design and production of the artwork, gaining knowledge both historically and geographically of our local area."
Old Durham Gardens was developed between the 17th and 20th centuries and has a gazebo, terrace and walled gardens. It is open today and tomorrow, between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free. Pelaw Woods is open during daylight hours.
