A SCENIC cycle route that links Britain's highest pub with a market town has been opened.
The 46-mile route runs from Tan Hill, in Arkengarthdale, via Reeth and Grinton into Wensleydale, then via Bedale, Kirby Fleetham and Romanby to Northallerton.
Twelve cyclists and supporters of transport group Sustrans, which created the National Cycle Network, rode the route 71 to open it.
It forms a link between the new Walney to Wear and Whitby long-distance cycle journey, and routes that run north and south through the North York Moors and the Vale of York.
Sustrans liaison ranger Brian Chandler and ranger Tony Keates thanked the cyclists who took part in the opening ride.
