A GUIDED cycle ride which explores the ancient salt trade route in the UK will be held next week.
The Great Salt Run is a gentle two-hour ride from Billingham to Greatham, in Hampshire, which returns via Wolviston, near Stockton.
Cyclists taking part will be able to hear about the history of the salt trade as the ride goes on along road, cycle tracks and through woodland.
Those wishing to take part are asked to meet at Billingham Forum on Sunday, September 16, at 10am.
Under-16s must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. The ride will be led by experienced marshals.
A limited number of bicycles are available for free loan on the event. For details, call 01642-526736.
