GARDENERS will be showing off the fruits of their labour at two horticultural shows this weekend.
More than 600 entries are expected at the Durham Horticultural and Craft Show, which has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years.
The fruit, flowers and vegetables will be available for viewing at County Hall, in Durham City, between 9am and 5pm tomorrow, and from 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
Peter Thompson, one of the organisers, said: "We've already reached last year's figure of 500 and we're getting more craft entries - particularly more from children - so it's all good news.
"Because of the adverse weather, it's not been a brilliant summer, but the recent good weather has helped."
The show also includes an extensive craft fair, which will be open throughout Sunday.
The event is supported by Durham County Council.
Admission is 50p for adults and free for children. Parking is free. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday, at 4pm.
Meanwhile, the annual Grand Leek Show and Harvest Festival will be held in The Colliery Village, at Beamish.
Viewing of the flowers and vegetables, from members of the Shield Row Allotment Association, will be from 10am tomorrow and on Sunday.
Judging will take place tomorrow morning and prizes will be presented at 2pm, on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, the Chester-le-Street Methodist Choir will give a concert of harvest hymns at 2.30pm and there will be an auction of vegetables and flowers, at 3pm.
