A ROADSHOW for people interested in family history is to take place next week.

The event, featuring experts from the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society, will be held at the Clayport Library, in Durham City, on Saturday, September 15.

Help will be on hand for anyone beginning the search for their ancestors.

The roadshow will run from 10am to 4pm and include two talks.

The first, Putting History Into Family History, will take place at 10.45am and explain how to build up a picture of a family within the historical setting of their times.

The second, at 2.30pm, will outline how to become a family detective with the use of case studies.

Places on both talks must be booked, on 0191-386-4003.

There will also be a chance for one-to-one consultations with researchers from the society, each lasting 20 minutes. They will take place from 1pm to 3.30pm, and must be booked with the society, on 0191-261-2159.

A spokesman for the society said: "The aim of the events is to help people who are considering starting their family research and also to help those who may have come across brick walls when doing their research."
