SEVERAL people attended a morning of yoga and an afternoon of circle dancing at a small school, which closed many years ago, in Lunedale, near Barnard Castle.
Between them, the two efforts in Carlbeck School raised £118, which is to be added to a fund to turn the building into a community centre.
The yoga session was run by Veronica Burningham, of Middleton-in-Teesdale, who has offered to hold regular classes there, once the building is transformed. Regular circle dancing sessions are also likely to be held in the new centre.
Local residents, who this year published a book about the heritage of Lunedale, are planning a number of fund raising events for the community centre project.
