A SWIMMING club has welcomed back six of its members, who have competed in two competitions.
Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club, based at Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex, in Bishop Auckland, had four qualifiers in the Amateur Swimming Association national championships and two in the Catholic school world championships.
Patrick Callan, Emma Hodgson, Kyle Boyek, all 14, and 15-year-old Philip Hodgson took part in the British age group category event, in Sheffield.
Meanwhile, Richard Suddes, 16, and Faye Callan, 14, travelled to Budapest for the Olympics-style Catholic championships.
Carla Rispin, the swimming club's head coach said: "They were my first nationals and we came away with two medals.
"Just to qualify is fantastic, and to have the courage to go out and swim your best is even better.
"The two who went to Hungary also did fantastically. For all of these swimmers, the prospects are very exciting for the future."
