IT has been a damp summer in more ways than one for adventurous Scouts in Bedale.
For the annual camp a party of youngsters stayed in the scenic surroundings of Borrowdale, south of Derwent water in the Lake District.
Although it rained for most of the week, the Scouts went hill walking, climbing, canoeing, rafting, orienteering and enjoyed a day out in Keswick.
Some Scouts took the plunge by attending an introduction to scuba diving at Bishop Auckland, earning their water sport badge on the way.
Others earned their fireman's badge with a mix of theory and a visit to Bedale fire station, where they learnt about the work of part-time firefighters, who cover a large area, including the nearby A1.
