TWO teenagers were told yesterday to expect long sentences after they pleaded guilty to the attempted knife robberies of two women walking home together in Hartlepool in the early hours.
Nathan Walker, 14, and Greg Hallcup, 18, were given the warning by Judge John Walford when he remanded them on bail for pre-sentence reports.
The judge told them at Teesside Crown Court: "When you return, you should expect to receive substantial custodial sentences for these offences."
Jolyon Perks, prosecuting, gave no details of the offences when the pair appeared in the dock for Hallcup to face a trial and Walker to offer pleas.
Walker, of Spurn Walk, Hartlepool, and Hallcup, of Byron Street, Hartlepool, both pleaded guilty to two charges of the attempted robberies on June 23 of Katharine Belcher and Katharine Galloway of their handbags and contents.
They each also admitted having a pen knife in a public place on the same occasion.
