A collection of banners from the Durham coalfield is being gathered as part of the Heritage Open Days weekend.
The event will be staged at Bowburn Community Centre, Durham, on Saturday.
It will include some rarely-seen examples from the Twenties and Thirties, as well as banners from later in the 20th Century and some more recent replicas and community banners.
The exhibition will include banners from Bearpark, Boldon, Craghead, Deaf Hill, Fenhall Drift, near Lanchester, Medomsley, Annfield Plain, Murton, Spennymoor and Wingate.
Banner enthusiasts and former miners will be present throughout the day to explain the significance of these treasures and to talk to visitors about the history of the Durham Miners' Gala and of Durham's mining communities.
Admission to the event, from 10am to 4pm, is free.
