A FLUMMOXED pub landlord has accused council bosses of bottling it when he asked for help to go green.
Bruno Giusti has collected more than 1,000 glass bottles at The Manor House, in Ferryhill, County Durham, for recycling.
But when Mr Giusti asked his local authority - Sedgefield Borough Council - for help to recycle his empties, he says he was told to "bin them".
Mr Giusti said: "I want to do my bit for the environment, to be a responsible businessman.
"If I recycle bottles rather than throw them out, it would reduce landfill - but I can't get anyone to take them.
"I've asked the council to recycle them, but they say it isn't worth the effort and told me to bin them, I cannot even find a company I can pay to recycle them.
"It is ridiculous that the authorities are only interested domestic waste - a house might produce a dozen bottles a week, but I get hundreds.
"I'm just one pub, so can you imagine how much waste is being buried instead of being recycled?"
If anyone can help Mr Giusti to recycle the bottles, he asks them to call 01740-654322.
