VISITORS and exhibitors will be celebrating at this year's Bowes Show on Saturday.
Not only has the show gone ahead, despite the threat of foot-and-mouth disease earlier this summer, but it is also the 120th time the event has been held.
To celebrate the landmark show, the organisers have produced a book detailing its history, which will be on sale at the show.
They say they have had record entries this year and are looking forward to a successful weekend.
"We've had about 700 entries in the horse section, which is a record, and brilliant for a show such as ours," said head secretary Paul Tranter. "We had a wet summer, and we thought the show would be cancelled due to the weather. Then the weather dried up and foot-and-mouth emerged, so we're delighted that it's going ahead this year."
The event will be held at The Parks, Home Farm, Gilmonby, from 9am. Entrance costs £5 for adults, £2 for children, with children under five getting in free. Parking on the show field costs £5 per car.
