A MAN has been taken to hospital after being cut freed from his car following a traffic accident.
The three vehicle collision happened on Oakfield Road, Whickham, near Gateshead, at about 4.30pm.
The accident involved a VW Polo, Ford Mondeo and a Hyundai Terracan.
Fire Brigade officers used cutting equipment to remove the roof of the Terracan and free the driver.
He was given first aid at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, with leg, chest and neck injuries.
The drivers of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
