THE former Prime Minister's agent, John Burton, will not face the Adjudication Panel for England over allegations of bullying tomorrow as was expected.

The hearing was brought about following allegations he threatened the former deputy leader of Sedgefield Borough Council, Kester Noble, with deselection if he went against a planning vote.

The incident allegedly took place in January and Mr Noble was deselected in March.

At the time Councillor Burton denied the allegations but a report was submitted to the Standards board for England.

The case was referred to the panel, which has the power to suspend a councillor for up to a year or disqualify an individual from becoming a councillor for up to five years.

It can also find that there has been no breach of the regulations.

Yesterday, a spokesman for the panel said the hearing had been adjourned to a date to be fixed but could not comment as to why.
