SCHOOL girl Katie Hall is top of her form - and top of the country.
The 16-year-old pupil at Teesside High School, Eaglescliffe, proved she was in a class of her own when she achieved the top humanities mark in the country.
The Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) exam board marked her out of a total of 113,487 GCSE candidates.
Katie, who lives in Eaglescliffe, is being invited to a luncheon in Westminster to receive a solid silver medal, sponsored by Nelson Thornes in partnership with AQA.
She and another student at Teesside High School, Katie Lamb, have also achieved two of the top five marks in the country in their AQA classical studies exam.
Pupils at the Unity City Academy, in Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough gained record GCSE results, with 45 per cent of the pupils gaining five or more g rade A* to C passes.
