WOULD-BE sports leaders are being given the chance to brush up on their skills on a course.
Easington District Council's sports development team, in partnership with Active Easington members, is launching sessions next month for local enthusiasts to develop their abilities to lead groups in sports and recreation.
The Level II Community Sports Leaders Award course will be held from Monday, October 22, to Thursday, October 25, between 10am and 3pm, at the Glebe Centre, Murton.
The free course, which leads to a nationally recognised qualification, is mostly practical, with the emphasis on learning through doing rather than written work.
Pip Bell, the council's Positive Futures sports officer, said: "The course is aimed at anyone who is interested in delivering safe sporting and recreational activities.
"You don't have to be super-fit, you just need to have an interest in sport and enjoy working with other people."
Anyone wishing to take part must be over 16. For information or to sign up for the course, contact the sport's development unit at the council, on 0191-527-0501.
