THE distraught family of a young boy killed in a freak accident on a caravan park have spoken of their loss.
Benjamin Luke Blezard, who was just four-years-old, died after an accident at the Rowntree Caravan Club, in Terry Avenue, York, on Thursday morning.
He was riding his pedal cycle in the caravan park at 6.45pm when he was in collision with a car towing a caravan.
He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to York Hospital but doctors there were unable to save him and he died the following morning.
The youngster lived with his family - dad Gary, mum Carol and brother Jordan - in Ashfield Street, Normanton, near Wakefield in West Yorkshire.
Yesterday the family were still too upset to talk to the media but released a statement through the police.
"Benjamin was a really lively and fun-loving little boy, and everyone who met him thought very highly of him," they said.
"He was never in a bad mood and never got upset, he always had a smile on his face. He brought joy to everyone's life and was so caring."
They added: "Despite his short life we have lots of very happy memories of Benjamin as he lived his life to the full.
"You just could not have asked for a nicer son and brother. He was a very special little boy and he will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.
"We will never forget him and we will love him for ever."
An inquest into the incident was opened and adjourned yesterday afternoon.
