THERE was more flower power than steam or diesel at a railway museum this weekend.
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon, in County Durham, hosted Durham and Northumberland Fuchsia Society's 26th annual show on Saturday.
Around 240 plants were exhibited by 18 growers from across the North East and museum visitors were able to pick up some gardening advice with a series of demonstrations.
The overall winner, with most points in the show and the best exhibit, was John Strangeways, of Billingham.
Organiser Deryck Forrest said: "One of the judges, from the British Fuchsia Society, had just been to the top show in the country and said our exhibits equalled theirs for quality."
*A full list of winners and photographs will appear in Monday's Northern Echo and next week's Durham Times and Darlington and Stockton Times.
