SUPERMARKET staff and shoppers gave their support to a cancer charity campaign yesterday by using 450 bras.
The donated garments were tied together to circle the car park at Asda, in Spennymoor, as the store launched its Tickled Pink campaign in aid of Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.
Events organiser Ann Allison said: "We wanted something eye-catching to launch the campaign and felt this showed people that anyone - of all ages and sizes like the bras - can get breast cancer.
"Every 12 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with breast cancer and we want to help the charities fighting it."
The bras will be donated to a women's refuge and cancer charities.
Last year, the store managed to raise £8,000 for the campaign.
"We want to beat last year's total.
"We have six weeks of official fundraising and really hope to get close to £9,000," said Mrs Allison.
Tickled Pink events organised by store staff include an art exhibition and sale, a charity night at Middlestone Moor Club on September 15, a street party, cake stalls and raffles.
