ARTISTIC residents have an extra month to send portrait competition entries to judges who have extended the deadline due to its success.
Sedgefield People 2007 has been launched by Sedgefield Borough Council's arts development team to create an artistic snapshot of the borough's residents through each others eyes.
Organisers have been overwhelmed by the popularity of the competition and have extended the deadline from Friday to September 30.
The competition is open to everyone and split into two categories - adults and under 18-year-olds - with a maximum of two entries per person.
Portraits must be created by and feature residents of the borough. Entrants can use cameras, pencils, paints, computers or embroidery.
Portraits can be posted to Emily Crallan at Sedgefield Borough Council, Leisure Services, Council Offices, Spennymoor, DL16 6JQ or left at the council office reception.
Entries should include the artist's name, address, telephone number and the subject's name and relationship to the artist.
Portraits will be exhibited in venues around Sedgefield and Sedgefield Arts Forum will judge the top three from the categories.
