A COLLEGE is leading the way in teaching the art of plastering.

Redcar and Cleveland College has been awarded training partnership status by British Gypsum.

Principal Gary Groom said: "The college is delighted to be given this partnership award. The college has received a great deal of support from British Gypsum, to include key materials for the delivery of high-quality training programmes in the form of raw materials, electronic training materials, and educational visits to Kirby Thore to see plasterboard production."

Jonathan Cherry, manager of British Gypsum Drywall Academy, said: "The college has been working with British Gypsum for a number of years and the new partnership status awarded to the college is a formal recognition of this highly effective working relationship and the quality of training provided by the college.

"Plastering is a highly skilled craft that requires the very best in training, and colleges such as Redcar and Cleveland provide the essential resource needed to train young plasterers to the very highest standards."
