VOLUNTEER tutors are needed at a Teesdale education centre for the new term.
The Leap Skills for Life Centre, which helps adults with reading, writing and maths, is looking for volunteers, who would work under the guidance of an experienced group tutor.
Volunteers will receive full training and get the chance to gain qualifications and progress to paid work.
Jill Wales, from Leap, said: "Leap provides help and support for adults who want to brush up on their maths and English, and is also a registered centre for the national tests in literacy and numeracy.
"Volunteer tutors play an important role and many of our paid tutors started as volunteers."
Training will start on September 17 and will lead to the City and Guilds level two certificate for adult learner support, as well as a nationally-recognised qualification in English or maths.
There will be written assignments and practical training, which will be held at the centre, in Barnard Castle Market Place, on Mondays, from 9.30am until noon.
Leap provides tuition for dyslexic learners as well as assessing whether people may suffer from a learning difficulty. They also offer family learning and help for people learning English as a second language.
