YOUNG dancers will fly out to Sardinia today to take part in an international competition.
The show team of the Shannon Irish Dancers, which is based in the YMCA, in St Thomas Street, Scarborough, will be up against teams from across the world at Dance Gala International.
It is the second time the team has competed.
Members are hoping to repeat last year's success when the team won first prize in four categories.
Nine dancers aged 14 to 23 will take part in the gala and have been rehearsing two days a week all summer.
Katrina Flynn, choreographer, said: "The girls are quite nervous as there is a bit of pressure on them but they are really looking forward to it.
"We will have some free days, so it's a bit of a holiday as well. I'm really excited."
The competition will be held in an outdoor amphitheatre in the resort of Porto Rotundo.
Dancers will compete in categories including as ballet, hip hop, folk and contemporary.
