TWO health care assistants are stepping up their own fitness regime so they can complete a sponsored walk in aid of the hospital where they work.
Gwen Mander and Mary Elliott, who care for patients at the Richardson Community Hospital, in Barnard Castle, aim to walk the Dales Way next month.
They will set off from Ilkley, in the Yorkshire Dales, on Friday September 7, and walk about 15 miles a day until they reach Windermere, in the Lake District.
Supporters hope to meet the two women at the end of the 84-mile trek to congratulate them.
Sponsorship money from the event will go towards services or equipment at the Richardson Hospital.
