A CHARITY has appealed for help with recycling used CDs.
The County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted sends out two local talking newspapers, which cover the north and south of the county to more than 700 visually impaired people.
Previously, everyone received the talking newspaper on cassette tape. But as it becomes more difficult to purchase them, the society has so far managed to fund a change to CDs, for those who would prefer it.
However, as not all CD players will play re-writable CDs, the charity uses single-use discs to record each edition and 400 of these are returned every month.
Director Linda Curtis said: "We make every effort as a charity to be as green as possible, and so would welcome any ideas from businesses that could help us to recycle the CDs - along with raising funds to continue the changeover from tapes."
