SUPPORTERS of a hospice are urging people to take on a fundraising challenge.
St Catherine's Hospice, in Scarborough, is organising a fire walk on September 22.
The event, at St Catherine's satellite day hospice in West Cliff, Whitby, will be run by fire walking specialists UK Firewalk.
To take part, people have to raise a minimum of £150 for the hospice, which provides care for patients in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.
Among the participants will be Whitby councillor Jane Kenyon, who said: "The day hospice and Saint Catherine's will always occupy a special place in my heart, so when they approached me to take part in this I didn't need to think twice.
"My late mother, Lady Doreen Kenyon, received exceptional care through the day hospice and Saint Catherine's during the latter part of her life; indeed, she opened the day hospice."
Coun Kenyon took part in the Boxing Day Dip at Whitby last year, raising more than £350 for Saint Catherine's.
She said the fire walk would provide a much different challenge to a swim in the North Sea in December.
"I'm told that it is mind over matter, so I don't expect to get too burnt," she added.
Saint Catherine's fundraising administrator Louise Leah said: "This is going to be one of our hottest fundraisers of the year and certainly one to keep our fundraisers on their toes."
