A 51-YEAR-OLD man who was admitted to hospital following a disturbance in Wallsend, North Tyneside, has died from his injuries, police said.
Thomas William Fellowes, known as 'Billy', was making his way home when he was hurt in an attack in Churchill Street, in the town, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Mr Fellowes, of Cheadle Avenue, Wallsend, had been looking after a local working mens club nearby following the death of his father.
He was married with three teenage children and was an engineer, police said.
A post mortem examination revealed he died from head injuries.
Jeffrey Gosling, 18, of Hazlewood Terrace, Wallsend, had been charged with assaulting Mr Fellowes.
On Sunday night he was re-arrested by police and charged with his manslaughter.
He will appear before North Tyneside Magistrates on Monday morning.
Police have praised members of the public who went to Mr Fellowes' aid and comforted him until medical help arrived.
They said local residents had assisted their investigation, but more help was still needed.
