NEW homes are needed for six dogs taken in recently at rescue kennels.
The lurchers and greyhounds are aged one to four and were found abandoned or handed to the police or council dog wardens in the Durham area.
They were found temporary homes at Deerness Kennels, in Langley Moor, near Durham, but since their arrival, last month, no one has claimed them or offered them a home.
Kennels owner Linda Forsyth said they would make ideal pets for any dog lover because they were well-behaved and good-natured.
She said: "No one has collected them, so we have neutered, microchipped and vaccinated them, which means they are ready to go straight out to a new home if someone is prepared to take them.
"They all have nice friendly natures. They are very steady dogs.
"As they all happen to be black, we have nicknamed them our black beauties.
"We would love to see them all going to caring new homes."
The dogs can be viewed at the Deerness Kennels, in Mill Lane, from 9am to 5pm weekdays, 9am to 1.30pm on Saturdays, and 11.30am to 1.30pm on Sundays.
