FARMERS will be setting out their stalls this weekend to tempt people to buy home produce.
Locally farmed beef, lamb, bacon, sausages, vegetables, cheese and even home baking will all be for sale at a farmers' market, at Nature's World, in Ladgate Lane, Middlesbrough, on Sunday.
For years, a company has organised the markets at the trial gardens, but this month Nature's World is going it alone.
Manager Stuart Goldie said: "It is to encourage people to support local producers and particularly local farmers - they have had a bad time with the foot-and-mouth scare. And we are looking at trying to expand the market."
It is expected there will be about 30 produce stalls.
Mr Goldie said: "We are getting the farmers, but we need buyers. Competition from supermarkets is so stiff, we are hoping this is a niche we can develop.
"The farmers' market is quality, organic produce, not perhaps the cheapest, but produced locally. This will be the first one we have run on our own."
There will also be a craft market with stalls, held indoors at Nature's World. For more details, ring 01642-594895.
