WORK will begin in the next two weeks on two trial schemes aimed at cutting traffic congestion in a spa town.
Traffic lights at the junction of Arthurs Avenue, Otley Road and Cold Bath Road, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, will be altered to help motorists who are turning right from Arthurs Avenue.
The scheme will operate during weekday peak periods when school traffic is heavy.
Road markings and signs will be altered at the Follifoot Road and Drury Lane junction to favour Drury Lane traffic.
Harrogate Borough Council's highway officers will monitor the effect of both experiments, using CCTV cameras, for three months.
Comments on the measures from the public will be considered before the authority decides whether to make the arrangements permanent.
