A SONGWRITER from Ferryhill has something to sing about after his material was recognised in a national competition.
Dean Rose, 28, entered three songs in the UK songwriting contest, which attracts about 5,000 entries every year.
Two of his songs, Dreamscape and Lonely Night, reached the semi-final stage.
Mr Rose, who decided to go solo after playing in tribute bands, says his songs reflect his own experiences.
He said: "I perform in many different styles, as my album, The Minds Eye, will show. My greatest inspirations are The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Doors and Bob Dylan.
