A MAN was cut free from a car after it collided with a wooden telegraph post tonight.
He was the front seat passenger in a Peugeot 106 which collided with the post in Jubilee Place, Shotton, near Peterlee, County Durham, at around 9.10pm.
Fire-fighters cut the man, whose age was not known but was described as a "young adult", free from the vehicle before he was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham.
His condition was not known, although he was conscious and talking to emergency workers.
A rear seat passenger was helped by members of the public prior to the arrival of the emergency services. He was also taken to hospital for treatment to leg injuries.
The driver of the car suffered a minor injury to his nose, but did not require hospital treatment.
A fourth person in the car was not believed to be injured.
The cause of the accident is not known, but no other vehicle was thought to be involved.
