The Masons got their Crook and District League campaign off to a great start with a thumping 7-0 victory over Heighington.

Straight from the kick off they could have took the lead through Liam McRoy who was thwarted by the visting keeper. 5 minutes in Tom Fothergill opened the scoring when he fired into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box. Number two followed shortly after, Steven Fothergill hammering one into the top right corner 20 yards out after a corner was partially cleared. After 17 minutes the score was 4-0 with Lee Atkinson and Carl Tyers getting on the score sheet and just before half time Kevin Dodds finished from close range after some good approach play.

The second half saw Tom Fothergill score from 20 yards and then Kevin Dodds completed the scoring when he netted from the angle of the box. Kevin Dodds then had a chance to complete his hat trick from the penalty spot but his effort was saved by the keeper who despite conceding seven kept the score line down. New signing Dean Maddison then had a chance to score on his debut when a second penalty was awarded but he put his spot kick just wide of the left hand post.

Some of the football played was a pleasure to watch so lets hope the lads can carry on the performance into next weeks game.
