GUIDE Dogs will be out in force on Saturday, August 18 when Reeth, near Richmond, hosts a fun day to raise money for the charity.
The event has been organised by local resident Christine McKay, because she felt the Dales needed its own event to represent the charity.
She said: "The nearest Guide Dogs’ fundraising branch is Dales and District, based in Northallerton which is 30 miles away.
"I decided that Reeth deserved to hold its own fun day. Events such as this are essential to raise the money needed to fund the £55,000 that each guide dog partnership costs, and every contribution counts."
There will be various stalls selling guide dog merchandise and local produce, face painting, a tombola and guide dog demonstrations, as well as the chance to walk through the Guide Dog sensory tunnel.
Arkengarthdale Scout Group will be offering a wheel washing service.
Community fundraiser for Guide Dogs Jo Stevens said: “The sensory tunnel alters peoples’ perspectives and tests their senses. It allows them to step into the shoes of a person with sight loss to experience the challenges they face on a daily basis."
Guide Dogs will be on the village green in Reeth from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Admission is free and all proceeds will go to the Guide Dogs charity.
