AN EXHIBITION about the "Harrods of the North-East' opens at Bishop Auckland's Discovery Centre today.
Doggarts Ltd had a chain of 13 department stores across the North-East between the end of the 19th Century and the Eighties.
The Bishop Auckland branch was the centre of the network, from which other shops ordered stock. The exhibition includes memorabilia, photographs and information about the shops.
For the past two years, the exhibition has been touring various towns and libraries throughout the region.
The Discovery Centre is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. Admission is free and the exhibition will run until Saturday, September 1.
