A WOMAN died after falling from a building in Durham.
Emergency services were called at 4pm on Thursday to the Elvet Bridge area of the city centre.
It is understood the woman fell from the Prince Bishops car park nearby.
Durham Constabulary confirmed the death and said her next of kin are being contacted.
Elvet Bridge was cordoned off and closed to pedestrians.
Police say the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious.
A force spokesman said: "A woman has died after falling from Prince Bishops multi-storey car park in Durham city centre at about 4pm yesterday.
"Members of the public tried to revive the woman but, sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this stage it is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances."
Anyone in the area at the time of the incident or with information is asked to call DS Steve Richards on 101 quoting incident number 336 of July 5.
