A COUNCIL has delivered 340 affordable homes in the last seven years, with much-needed schemes being built in both rural and highly-populated areas.
Richmondshire District Council has exceeded its annual housing targets in the Local Plan area for the last two years.
Some notable rural developments include Spennithorne; Maythorne Farm and The Limes in Leyburn; Bishops Way in Catterick Village; and, the former Older Persons Accommodation in Gilling West, developed into 11 affordable homes.
In Richmond, the former Arriva Bus Depot was developed into 24 affordable apartments, while three other developments, Temple Gate, Priory House, Richmond House and Whashton Road, have created opportunities to own a new home in the town.
There has also been growth on sites at Catterick Garrison, enabling more young people and families to get onto the property market at an affordable level.
In the Yorkshire Dales National Park planning permissions were granted for its largest development in the district for 17 homes in West Witton, and an exception site at Bainbridge for five two and three bedroom family homes and, the first Community Led Housing Scheme in North Yorkshire was completed in Hudswell.
The council and its partners is holding an on Friday, July 20 at Scotch Corner Hotel from 9.30 am.
