FIREFIGHTERS tackled two large grass fires as temperatures continue to soar.
Three crews from Crook, Bishop Auckland and Stanhope attended the incident in Thornley, near Tow Law, at 7.10pm on Wednesday. The fires were 800m apart and the firefighters spent two hours bringing the flames under control. Two hectares of grass were destroyed.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service shared the incident on Facebook with the hashtags #HeatWaveUK #StaySafe
