A COUNCIL has launched its first parks festivals with free activities for children.
Ronaldshay Park, in Richmond, is the first to host an event, today, followed by Catterick Garrison's Coronation Park, tomorrow.
The events are run by Richmondshire District Council and activities include face-painting, badge and banner making, didgeridoo playing and kite making. There is also a climbing wall and a bungee trampoline.
Activities are free from 11am to 5pm and local bands will play from 5pm to 7pm.
"The festivals are a new initiative we hope will encourage families back to our local parks," said Councillor Hamish Newhouse, member champion for young people. "
