DOZENS of children have been given a taste of foreign travel - without leaving their home.

Youngsters attending the out of school play scheme Oscar 2, based on Hartlepool's Owton Manor estate, went on a culinary round the world trip, when they made traditional dishes from Italy, India, American, China and Greece.

"A small group prepared the food, but 52 tasted it,'' said Gill Mayson, assistant co-ordinator on the play scheme. "Everybody had a taste.''
