A COMMUNITY centre has landed a grant to help pay for activities for young people.
Ferryhill Town Council donated £800 to The Ladder Centre, on the Lakes estate, in Ferryhill, last week.
Youth worker Kelly Holmes and four of the centre's young users - Ruby Willets, Megan Grimmer, Charlotte Hope and Megan McNicholas - visited Ferryhill town hall to accept the grant.
The cash will be used to continue to run youth and children's groups, educational and confidence-building projects and education and lifestyle courses.
The venue also provides access information technology, advice sessions, recreational facilities, a credit union and job search drop-in.
Since The Ladder (Lakes and district development education resource) centre opened in 2001, it has been credited by police for helping to reduce anti-social behaviour problems on the estate.
