PETER Kay, right, has been named the North-East's favourite comedian.
The Bolton-born comic, famed for TV series Peter Kay's Pheonix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, took 46 per cent of the region's votes, beating Scottish funnyman Billy Connolly into second place.
Home-grown comedian Ross Noble gained only two per cent of the vote.
The survey, by drinks manufacturer Vimto, found two-thirds of North-Easterners get a good laugh at least twice a day, with sarcasm most likely to get us chuckling.
We also laugh at embarrassing situations more than the rest of the country, with 59 per cent of us finding them funny.
