AN author brought up in Bedale, North Yorkshire, could see his first novel turned into a film.
Electricity, by Ray Robinson, has just been published in Canada and America, while he waits to learn if it will win Britain's oldest literary prize.
It has been bought for translation by a German publisher and there is interest in Mexico and Spain. There is also an option to buy the rights for filming.
Mr Robinson, 35, drew on experiences of epilepsy in his family to write Electricity, first published in the UK last year.
It is one of six novels short listed in this year's fiction section of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, worth £10,000 to the winner, which will be announced at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Saturday.
