A TEENAGER inspired by her late grandfather has raised £100 for charity.
Emma Rennison, 13, from Hawes, North Yorkshire, biked 17 miles from Hawes to Sedburgh on July 26 to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, raising £300.
She had planned to raise funds for a school trip, but instead decided to donate a third of the money to charity.
Emma said: "I chose the British Heart Foundation because my grandad died of a heart attack in 2002 and my family and I went through a lot at that time, so I don't want others to feel the same way.
"I am sure the charity will use my money well and help people beat heart attacks."
Lucy Watson, fundraising and volunteer manager for the charity, said: "It is always fantastic to hear of people who want to take the time to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, especially the younger generation.
"I want to thank Emma. We are pleased she successfully completed the sponsored bike ride and hope she enjoys the school trip."
