Aldi has extended its popular Bushland range to include this Shiraz, which they're selling at £ 4.99.
Decanter magazine voted it best Australian Shiraz under £10 and it won a silver medal in the International Wine Challenge.
It's a dark red wine with hints of purple and a nose that has aromas of black and white pepper, mingled with blueberries and blackberries with a little chocolate. On the palate there's good fruit intensity with extended flavours of peppers, smooth tannins and a red berry finish.
It's a full-bodied wine from the Hunter Valley of 13 per cent alcohol, which could be mistaken for a European expression of the grape. Will drink ok for the next five years.
Just the wine to drink with the Sunday roast or its equally at home with cold beef and baked potatoes. I found it goes better with meat than cheese. It will be in all Aldis 335 stores from August 1st.
