OFFICIALS are to visit a corner of Bedale, North Yorkshire, that residents say is plagued by anti-social behaviour.
People from Cascade Court, a residential and business area off North End, behind Bedale Hall, attended the latest town council meeting, seeking action to tackle problems involving boy racers, vandalism, loud radios, alleged drug-taking and groups of young people gathering in the nearby park from late evening until the early hours.
Councillors heard that a wooden fence had been torn down by a driver trapped in the park after the gates were locked and that windows had been smashed in a ground-floor flat and at the hall.
Cascade Court lies on an unadopted private road, with unrestricted access from Wycar. Councillors agreed to a site meeting, also involving residents and police, to investigate ownership issues and whether a sign can be erected stipulating access only for businesses and residents.
Residents insisted, however, that something should also be done to deter access from North End.
Police assured councillors and residents that Cascade Court would be at the top of their list for checks.
