PEOPLE are being invited to have their say on plans for a major development in their town.

Proposals for a district centre, health and social care village and more than 800 homes at Low Grange Farm, in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, were agreed earlier this year following a public consultation.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has now drawn up a planning guide, called the Low Grange Farm Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which sets out the authority's requirements for the design as well as the layout of the scheme.

Cabinet member for highways, transportation and planning, Councillor Mary Lanigan, said: "We are all excited that this development is coming forward at last.

"The district centre will be a new heart for the communities of South Bank, Grangetown and Teesville.

"Alongside it, we want to see some good-quality housing built to the latest energy efficiency standards.

"The planning guide will make it clear to developers and the local community how we expect the scheme to take shape and it sets out the key proposals to help the regeneration of South Bank. We want to make sure that we get the best quality development possible."

Residents can visit one of the following drop-in sessions, between 2pm and 8pm:

* At the Grangetown Neighbourhood Centre today;

* At South Bank Women's Centre on Tuesday, August 28;

* At James Finegan Hall, Eston, on Thursday, August 30.

The Low Grange Farm SPD can be viewed online at www. redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/ldf or at the Town Hall, Eston, Belmont House, Guisborough and libraries in South Bank, Grangetown and Ormesby.
