POLICE in Newton Aycliffe are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in the town earlier this week.
Electrical goods and jewellery were stolen from a property in Oakfield, between noon and 11pm on Monday.
A new Panasonic Vierra 50-inch plasma television set, bearing the model number TH50 PX70B, and a Newcastle United football shirt signed by Alan Shearer were among items taken.
Other electrical items stolen included a Panasonic surround sound system, consisting of four tall speakers and an amplifier, a Technics hi-fi and two LCD televisions with built-in DVD players.
A Seiko sports watch with a silver bracelet and a gold Albert neck chain were also taken.
Detective Constable Dave Robinson, of Newton Aycliffe CID, said that the property was worth more than £5,000.
He said: "The plasma television set, which was only bought a couple of weeks ago, would require two people to lift it and whoever was responsible must have had a van to move the haul of equipment.
"I would urge anyone who is approached by someone offering any of these items for sale to get in touch with us."
Call police on 0845-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
